October 30th is Candy Corn Day. Originally called Chicken Feed the confection was invented in the 1880s by the Wunderlee Candy Company. An estimated 35 million pounds (approximately 9 billion kernels) are produced each year. Although only 49% of Americans say they like Candy Corn (23% think it’s gross), Candy Corn is still considered an important part of Halloween. It’s also used extensively for Thanksgiving-related crafts.
